Not all bamboo is made equal and not all bamboo suppliers stand for the same standards of product integrity and authenticity.
What may look like a similar sample of bamboo may not always be what it seems. Don’t judge a book by its cover – bamboo samples are not necessarily the same quality and unfortunately these differences only become apparent over time.
The following are some important pointers when considering bamboo suppliers:
1) Ease of installation – no tapping or hitting therefore limited damage on wood
2) DIY is easy to do
3) Short ends of the plank there is a plastic clip that creates an additional locking mechanism in the Click plank
4) Patented design
A) The product
B) The installation
A poor installation can ruin even the best bamboo floors purchased. If you choose to go with a supplier who does not install and does not accept responsibility for the installation you run the risk of being in a position where the installer will blame the supplier for faulty material while the supplier will blame the installer for inferior installation and a never ending fight will then ensue.
Bamboo Warehouse is one of the only importers of top quality bamboo in South Africa who are not only experts in bamboo, but have extensive experience when it comes to bamboo floor installation.
Bamboo Warehouse sources bamboo from the world’s highest quality manufacturer, backed by leading certifications from the World Wildlife Fund, CE and ISO. The bamboo used by Bamboo Warehouse is harvested correctly by leaving a healthy portion of stalk and roots so the bamboo does not need to be replanted, it simply regenerates. This also means less soil erosion and more root stability which assists in areas of flooding.
Bamboo Warehouse’s supplier owns their own bamboo plantations which means they can control all farming mechanisms and abide by strict standards.
Bamboo Warehouse bamboo is grade A certified.
After years of experience Bamboo Warehouse has determined the optimal plank dimensions from both an economical and practical point of view.
Bamboo Warehouse bamboo uses only 12mm thickness in the Click technology planks and 14mm in the Tongue & Groove planks to ensure maximum durability and strength. We use only long planks to minimise joins and use planks from a minimum of 96mm wide up to 125mm wide for the best result in aesthetics, durability and longevity.
It is possible to purchase 10 and 8 mm thick bamboo planks at cheaper prices but we do not recommend this as our experience tells us that anything less than 12mm is far from an ideal stability ratio.
Bamboo Warehouse bamboo is manufactured under the strictest standards put in place by the EU and other governing bodies. All materials used within the process for example Dynea eco-friendly adhesives are all tested for toxic emissions. The same applies to the Treffert finishes.
Bamboo Warehouse bamboo is boxed in neat compact cardboard boxes with protective foam between planks. The exact square meterage will vary per box depending on the type of flooring.
Depending on the flooring, exact meterage is displayed on the box.
The hot press technique is a technique whereby not just pressure is applied to the floor boards but also heat, thereby making it a far more stable product than cold pressed.
Bamboo Warehouse uses only this heat compressing technique.
Taking all the above into account, the truth is there is no other reasonable choice when choosing your bamboo products. Bamboo Warehouse is the only choice.
